What is the purpose of this certification program?
Ministry Technology Institute’s mission is to train and equip tomorrow’s ministry technology leaders. It helps answer the question many ministries ask, “What should we look for when hiring an IT person?”.
What will the Certificate be called?
Those completing the certification program will receive a 'Ministry Technology Certificate', will be able to call themselves a 'Certified Ministry Technologist', and can put the initials CMT after their name.
Who can apply for enrollment?
Anyone can apply if their intent is to increase their knowledge of how technology can be used to compliment, enhance and expand the ministry of a church or ministry. Current church or ministry staff might be interested in going through the certification program to expand their knowledge and ability to serve their ministry or church. Those who desire to serve a church or ministry might take this certification program to prepare themselves to serve in a position at a church or ministry.
If I am looking to enter the church technology ministry field, how might this certification program prepare me?
With the combined knowledge and experience of Steve Hewitt and Nick Nicholaou (founders of MTI) and their professional practicing faculty, the curriculum for certification will cover a wide variety of subjects necessary to help a church utilize technology for their growing ministry needs. Areas of study include Church Management Software, network strategies, internet strategies, website design and implementation strategies, technology legal issues, multimedia strategies, and resource software.
How much will it cost to enroll in the certificate program?
After submission of an application with the $25 application fee, the tuition is $380. The $380 tuition may be paid in quarterly $95 installments, or all at once for a 5% discount. The first quarterly payment (or full tuition to receive the 5% discount) is due upon acceptance into the program, and payments may be made via the MTI store.
What is required to graduate?
Completion of 12 class units followed by a final paper. There are nine required plus three electives as follows:
- Church Management Systems (CMS)-- minimum of 3 units, one class required
- Network Strategies-- minimum of 2 units, one class required
- Multimedia Strategies-- minimum of 1 class, no specific class required
- Web Strategies-- minimum of 1 class, no specific class required
- Resource Software & Services-- minimum of 1 class, no specific class required
- Technology Legal Issues-- minimum of 1 class, one class required
- Conference Attendance for Credit-- no mimimums
What does a class look like?
Completion of a class will have three stages. Stage one is research, which may include required reading or a software demo. Stage two is a test to show demonstrate knowledge of the subject, software, or service. Stage three is a conference call with other students and instructors

When do classes begin?
Because classes are all online at the student's pace, they are ongoing. Conference calls to complete each class will be announced and held according to a schedule that will facilitate completion of the coursework within a twelve-month period.
